I am balding around my temples, and am getting a receding hairline. Will Rogaine stop that? If not, is there something else I can use?

Unfortunately, it is unlikely that Rogaine will slow down or reverse frontal balding. Rogaine is the market brand name topical formulation for the drug minoxidil and is available in both liquid and foam varieties. Minoxidil is used to slow down the process of male pattern balding and is one of the only drugs on the market proven to regrow hair. The primary indication for Minoxidil is for male pattern balding on the vertex (on the crown of the head) and has not been proven to slow down or reverse frontal balding (receding hairline). However, oral finasteride (Propecia) is also used for male pattern balding and can help slow vertex, frontal, and diffuse patterns of balding. Patients have reported improved results when Propecia is used in conjunction with topical Minoxidil especially those with both frontal and vertex balding. For more information, consult your general practitioner or dermatologist to evaluate which treatment regimen is best for you.
