Muscle pain is a common complaint and can be due to fatigue, injury, or nerve compression. Less commonly, muscle pain can be a result of viral infections or anemia. You noticing your arm being numb after sleeping on it is not an uncommon finding and you should attempt to avoid sleeping on your arm. If your muscle pain worsens or does not resolve with over the counter pain medications, you should be evaluated by a physician with a physical exam and laboratory tests.
