I’m a nurse and have to give insulin injections to HIV pos. patients. Recently while withdrawing my needle, fluid squirted me in the face, not blood, and possibly in the eye, although I’m unsure, b/c I wear contacts. There was no blood present but I’m worried I’ve contracted HIV through my eyes or skin. Could you please help me out?

Although you could not see any blood, there is still a risk of infection especially if there was contact with the eye. Each institution has its own protocol for post-exposure testing and prophylaxis of blood borne pathogens. You should therefore, report your exposure immediately to your institution and follow their protocol for HIV testing and prophylactic medicine.
