Blood glucose should not be affected by age. Normal fasting blood sugar should be between 80 – 90 mg/dL (4.4 to 5.0 mmol/L). The ADA (American Diabetes Association) considers normal a pre-meal glucose of 90–130 mg/dL (5.0 to 7.2 mmol/L) and a post-meal glucose level of less than 180 mg/dl (10.0 mmol/L).
