Without a proper physical examination, it is difficult to diagnose your condition. However, one of the most common painless red spots on the skin are petechiae.
Petechiae are caused by rupture of capillaries and can occur anywhere on the skin. They can be completely benign and an incidental finding or a sign of a serious underlying medical condition. Petechiae can be caused by increased pressuring inside the capillaries causing them to rupture. However, certain medical conditions that lower platelets (the clotting factors in your blood) can cause these lesions.
Again, without a proper physical examination and medical history, it is impossible to diagnose your condition. If you haven’t had an annual physical exam, now might be a good opportunity to go to your primary care physician and get this checked out. Important information for your doctor would be:
1) How long the lesions have been there
2) If the lesions stay in one place or move around
3) If the lesions growing or shrinking
